Welcome Guys!

Welcome to the first blog post of lama lama. I am Rose Lama the designer of Lamalama. My story is quite simple, starting with the name “Lamalama”.
Lama
Lama in my country, Nepal, has different meanings and, people always questioned me, “What Lama are you?” The reason behind the question is because Lama refers to two different different things that ate vastly different. Lama refers to Monks, like, Dalle Lama! and we have Lama that refers to an ethnic group also known as Tamang. The surname 'Tamang' is one of the 128 ethnic groups in Nepal. So am I a monk or a Tamang? To answer, I am Tamang and a Buddhist but not a monk. I am LamaLama...
I moved to California when I was young, and, here people confused my surname with the animal Llama. Few of my official papers and online orders still arrive addressed to “Ms. Llama”. After correcting people time and again that I am not a descendent of the animal Llama(not that I look like one either), I understood that regardless of where I am, there will always be one question “What kind of Lama are you?”. Simply, I am just a Lama Lama.
Now, to the story of my small business, the idea, and inspiration. As a quiet and shy kid, I was always amazed by creativity and nature. I spent a lot of my childhood exploring and dreaming of being a creator. My inspiration for art comes from my culture mostly and by watching the works of Hayao Miyazaki, Zdzisław Beksiński, and many others. It allowed me to dream with no limits. Moreover, I always found beauty in details, both in the creation by the people and mother nature. I was always curious to learn more but, being shy and quiet limited my accessibility to knowledge in art as I was easily intimidated by a lot of things. I struggled with my demons brought on by a few experiences, and physically putting them on paper helped me escape them. Considering that I have a lot of art pieces stored away, assuming they are just too personal and some not appropriate for sharing. It took some convincing from my trusted peers that some stories are meant to be shared. I use all kinds of mediums when it comes to art. I have a tremendous love for creation.
Initially, I prepared to study neuroscience but transferred to art history and practiced in studio/fine arts. I still have a long way to go considering my studies and the business. I planned on launching my business in 2021 but it turned out to be the worst possible year to launch anything at all. After few years with all of my plans pushed back I am trying again. Financially, I struggled a lot due to the pandemic and, the fight is still on. Yet, finally now in 2022, I can launch this anew.
